Firstly, what a privilege it is to keep getting older and celebrate birthdays. But also, I can’t wait to step into a decade that I feel will be filled with a greater understanding, a better sense of knowing and an inner surrender. I’m leaving behind doubt, negative thoughts and worry and stepping into the unknown with gratitude in my heart.
As Carrie Bradshaw so eloquently put it “your 20’s are for enjoying yourself. Your 30’s are for learning the lessons. And your 40’s are for buying the drinks.” That couldn’t be a truer statement for me. Boy did I make the most of my 20’s! But my 30’s have been packed full of big “life moments” that certainly delivered a lesson or two. I became a mother, lost my father, launched a business, lost my grandmother and - we won’t mention lockdown. Needless to say, as much as I have still had a lovely life, wrapped up in lots of love, my 30’s have been somewhat challenging. I have grown a lot and learnt a lot and I feel like this is my time to reap the benefits. Bring on the 40’s - first rounds on me!
