Sustainability - Amy Russell Taylor

SUSTAINABILITY

We teach our children to have a sense of pride in the world and people around them so it’s only natural that our brand mimics this. Using recycled precious metals, ethically sourced and conflict free stones and recyclable packaging, we are conscious of our planet and we share the love by giving back to charities close to our hearts.
Production

Each piece is individually made to order ensuring zero waste. All our packaging is recyclable, re-usable or compostable.

Materials

We use recycled silver and gold, as well as recycling all our studio scrap and excess for reuse. All of our gold is certified by the Assay Office inline with current UK legislations

Our Stones

All our stones are cut in line with UN regulated guidelines and our diamonds and gemstones are provided from our trusted supplier in the UK which works within the same strict ethical and sustainable guidelines.

Carbon Neutral

We are dedicated to providing our customers with the ability to offset their carbon emissions. Donate directly to a carbon neutral project through our easy checkout process.

What an EARTH is carbon offsetting?

Carbon offsets are a practical and effective way to reduce the effects of climate change by funding renewable energy, forestry, or clean water projects. These projects reduce emissions of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases in order to compensate for emissions made elsewhere, like the emissions created from ordering something online. Our partners, EcoCart, calculate the emissions created from your online orders and donates the exact amount required to reduce those emissions directly to our chosen charity projects on your behalf.

How can you help?

We are so proud to announce that customers of Amy Russell Taylor™️ now have the ability to offset your carbon emissions for each and every order placed with us. We not only want to help slow climate change but ensure that the projects we choose have a positive impact on local communities and animal habitats. That's why for our first initiative we are sending your carbon offsetting donations to local families in Myanmar, the third largest contributor to deforestation in the world, to provide them with fuel efficient cookstoves.

Where exactly will my donation go?

The project we have selected works to provide fuel efficient stoves to replace traditional wood-burning stoves. Myanmar is the third largest contributor to deforestation worldwide. As the forests disappear, the price of wood gets higher, driving more and more families into energy poverty. Cutting expenditures on wood makes a huge difference to families already living in poverty, and reducing the time needed to forage for wood means more time to spend on smallholdings and on securing a good harvest. Rural families in Myanmar spend as much as 40% of their income—or the time equivalent—on purchasing or collecting firewood.

Traditional stoves contribute to air pollution both outside and inside the home and can cause illness to those that live there. Air pollution from domestic cooking is responsible for the premature deaths of over 4 million people a year—more than HIV Aids and malaria combined. Each cookstove reduces wood consumption by at least 50%, reducing both pressure on forests and household expenditure on fuel. Air pollution is reduced by 80%, improving the health and safety of the whole community. Carbon emissions are reduced by 60%, or 4 tons per year, per stove.
